Clean Energy Update

Customers in our service area are increasingly choosing electric cars, solar panels, fossil-fuel-free heating systems, and other low-carbon technologies. Track our progress in New York and New Jersey below, and read our Clean Energy Commitment to learn how we are building the energy grid of the future together.

Solar Energy

Our customers have already installed more than 14,000 solar systems, driving New York and New Jersey toward their clean energy goals. These customers are lowering their energy bills, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and making the energy grid more resilient by helping meet demand for power at times when the sun is shining.

Battery Storage

Battery storage can help maximize the use of renewable power, bolster reliability at times of high energy demand, and give customers more control over their energy use. We’re working to support the safe and efficient adoption of 1,000 megawatts of energy storage in the New York metropolitan region by 2030

Electric Vehicles

The future of driving is electric, and we are all in on EVs. Through our PowerReady incentive program, we’ll support the installation of around 2,000 charging plugs by 2025, on the road to 60,000 plugs in 2035—and 150,000 by 2050. Meanwhile, we’ve committed to electrifying our own fleet of light-duty vehicles by 2035, with an interim goal of 80% by 2030.

Building Electrification

We envision most buildings in our service territory will have electric heating systems by 2050, as we aggressively transition away from fossil fuels. We aim to invest millions of dollars reducing carbon emissions from buildings in our service area, including electrifying space and/or water heating.
