O&R's Neil Winter Honored for Pandemic Service as People to People's Board Chair
The tribute was the cornerstone of “Down the Shore: A Party for People to People,” the organization’s largest annual fund raiser, at the Pearl River Hilton on May 26.
“With more than 31,000 Rockland residents experiencing food insecurity, ‘Down the Shore’ is one small step in the many efforts for People to People to alleviate hunger,” said Diane Serratore, People to People’s Chief Executive Officer.
She added, “Neil was elected People to People Board Chairman in February 2020. Then came COVID-19. Neil’s focused and calm leadership helped guide People to People through very challenging times. Neil is not only a Friend of People to People – he is part of the heart of the organization.”
In accepting his recognition, Winter said, “Last year, People to People served over 1.1 million meals in this tiny County of Rockland. Think about that for a minute? Could the problem of hunger really be that big in a county such as ours? Yes. It is.”
He added, “So, we are all gathered here tonight as Friends of People to People. That friendship will help a child, a single parent or a veteran receive the nutrition they need in a way that is respectful, dependable and dignified.”
