Orange and Rockland Utilities Restored Power to About 7,000 Hit by Severe T-storms Last Night, Working to Restore Service to 9,000 More
Orange and Rockland Utilities crews worked through the night last night to restore service to approximately 7,000 of the 16,000 customers whose power was knocked out by a series of severe thunderstorms, featuring damaging lightning and heavy downpours, that roared through northern Orange County late last night and into this morning.
Trees downed by the destructive storms disabled O&R electric transmission lines that feed four substations that provide service to customers in Deer Park, Westtown, Port Jervis and Cuddebackville. O&R crews are working now to repair the tree damage to the transmission lines and return service to the impacted customers.
