O&R Delivers Dry Ice for Customers at Germonds Park, West Nyack
O&R personnel will be at Germonds Park in West Nyack this evening, December 25 from 6-8 pm to provide free dry ice to customers whose electric service was knocked out by the Christmas Eve Storm.
The park is located at 185 Germonds Road, and there will be 3,000 pounds of dry ice available.
Bring work gloves to handle the dry ice and a cooler to carry it safely. Store the dry ice in the cooler in a well-ventilated area. Coolers are not airtight so as the dry ice evaporates some of the gas will escape.
Do not store the dry ice in your refrigerator or freezer, and do not store it in a tightly enclosed area. Do not leave dry ice out where people or pets can come into contact with it. Simply allow the dry ice to evaporate in the cooler if you don’t use it all. Do not flush it down a toilet or drain (it can freeze pipes). Lastly, do not leave it open to evaporate where the gas could be inhaled in large quantities.
O&R is following safety guidelines issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control for COVID-19 and asks that customers practice social distancing with other members of the public and the O&R employees at the location. That will help ensure that everyone remains safe during the health crisis.
