O&R: AGA Honors Company as a ‘Top Safety Performer’ in 2021
Safety is no accident at O&R.
O&R was recently recognized as a “leader in accident prevention” by the American Gas Association (AGA) for championing specific accident prevention programs like its Safety Leadership Initiative, daily warm-ups, and slip-trip-and-fall prevention training.
O&R president and CEO Robert Sanchez said, “To consistently perform demanding work in a high-risk environment without injury takes an exceptional group of employees who are willing to dedicate themselves each-and-every day to the caring, concentration and commitment necessary to ensure an accident-free workplace.”
AGA presented the award to O&R specifically because the company’s Days Away Restricted or Transferred (DART) incident rate was the lowest among companies of its category as identified in the AGA 2021 Employee and Vehicular Safety survey.
The DART rate is a measure of the severity of injuries employees sustain from on-the-job accidents, and the length of time employees are out of work as a result of those accidents.
AGA’s President and CEO Karen Harbert said, “The American Gas Association commends Orange & Rockland on its leading performance in accident prevention. Safety is the top priority for America’s natural gas utilities, and we are proud of O&R’s tireless commitment and dedication to advancing safety for its employees, customers and community.”
The American Gas Association (AGA) represents more than 200 local energy companies committed to the safe and reliable delivery of clean natural gas to more than 71 million customers throughout the nation.
